Grow in the Knowledge of God's Word

God Instructed Joshua to Speak the Word, to Meditate, and to Be a Doer of the Word

Ask God: Some verses in the Bible are filled with wisdom and knowledge. Joshua 1:8 is such a verse. In it, God instructs Joshua in the way to have success in the biggest challenge of his life. Moses had died and Joshua was now the Israelite leader, and it was his responsibility to lead them into the Promised Land.

Good Evening Reader,

All Christians want to prosper and to have a successful life. God handed Joshua the keys to an abundant life. God told Joshua to know God's Word, to continually speak the Word, to meditate on the Word, and to be a doer of the Word. Joshua is almost like a handbook in one verse for living in God's will.

May God blessed you and keep you.

All Glory to God.

Utilizing God's Word for Abundant Living

The Blueprint for a Transformed Life

"This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success" (Joshua 1:8).

Have you ever wondered why some believers seem to walk in victory while others struggle, even though each has the same Bible and the same God? The difference isn't in God's willingness to bless—it's in understanding and applying God's Word to our lives. God's Word releases power into every area of our lives.

God gave Joshua a specific formula for prosperity and success that wasn't based on Joshua's strength, intelligence, or circumstances. This same blueprint is available to each of us.

Imagine experiencing the love, peace, joy, prosperity, success, and health that God promises in His Word—not occasionally, but as your consistent reality. This isn't wishful thinking or prosperity hype; it's the result of following a biblical pattern that moves God's Word from the pages of your Bible into the fabric of your daily experience.

The process is simple but not always easy. It requires a focused intention to follow and please God. God's Word is more than information to be admired; it's living power waiting to be activated in your life.

In the following, you'll discover four steps that will transform how you interact with God's Word. Each step builds on the previous one, creating a powerful cycle that saturates your heart, renews your mind, and releases the Holy Spirit's power to accomplish what once seemed impossible.

This isn't theory—it's the tested, biblical path to victorious living that will transform your life. Are you ready to experience God's Word working in your life?

Read and Study God's Word: The Foundation of Life

The journey to experiencing God's best in every area of life begins with reading and studying His Word. Just as a builder cannot construct a house without a blueprint, we cannot build a life pleasing to God without knowing what His Word says.

In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Paul reminds us that "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."

Reading God's Word is not merely an academic exercise; it's discovering the mind and heart of God for your life. When you read about God's promises of provision in Philippians 4:19, you're learning that He supplies all your needs. When you study passages about healing, like 1 Peter 2:24, you're discovering your covenant rights.

Proverbs 4:20-22 instructs us, "My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart; for they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh." These are God's words of instruction. Let us pay attention to them.

This means setting aside dedicated time daily to open your Bible. Whether it's fifteen minutes in the morning or an hour before bed, consistency matters. Study topics relevant to your needs—finances, relationships, health—and write down what God says about them.

Say God's Word Continually

Once you've discovered what God's Word says, the next step is to speak it continually. This isn't vain repetition; it's establishing God's truth in your consciousness and letting the Word settle in your heart.

Proverbs 18:21 declares, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit." Your words have creative power. Remember you're made in God's image, and He created everything by speaking. The words we say to ourselves and others matter.

Mark 11:23 gives us Jesus' own instruction: "For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says." Notice Jesus used the word "says" three times in that one verse—speaking God's Word is that important. If God thinks it's important, then we should, too.

When you face financial pressure, don't just think God's words; say aloud, "My God supplies all my need according to His riches in glory" (Philippians 4:19). When sickness attacks, declare, "By His stripes I am healed" (Isaiah 53:5). Repeating God's Word throughout your day rewrites the negative programming in your mind and releases faith.

In practical application, write key scriptures on index cards and place them where you'll see them—your bathroom mirror, car dashboard, or desk. Speak them aloud multiple times daily. They will become a part of you and be your automatic response to life's challenges. This is what God instructed Joshua to do.

Saturate Your Heart and Spirit by Meditating on the Word

Meditation is the bridge between knowing God's Word and experiencing its power. Meditation is spending time thinking and concentrating on God's Word. God gave Joshua these words before he led the Israelites into the promised land. It was the formula for Joshua's success.

Joshua 1:8 says, "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success." God didn't promise Joshua success through military might but through meditating on His Word. Keep in mind that all good things come from above.

Biblical meditation differs from Eastern meditation. You're not emptying your mind; you're filling it with God's truth. The Hebrew word for meditate, "hagah," means to mutter, speak, or ponder deeply. It's like a cow chewing cud—bringing God's Word up again and again, extracting all its nutrition.

Psalm 1:2-3 describes the blessed person as one whose "delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season."

When you meditate on Scripture, you're allowing it to move from your head to your heart, from information to transformation. In daily life, you think with your mind and believe with your heart. Combining God's Word with heartfelt belief creates spiritual power.

Jesus said, "I came that you might have life and that you might have it more abundantly" (John 10:10). Abundant life is the desire God has for each of us. Begin to see your health, finances, and relationships improving. Be filled with joy because this is what God wants for you. It starts by being filled with the Word of God and seeing yourself as God's Word describes you.

Start today: Take one verse and think about it throughout your day. Picture it in different situations. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal its depths. Let it saturate your spirit until it becomes more real than your circumstances.

Then Be a Doer of the Word, Releasing the Power of the Holy Spirit

The final step transforms everything from theory to reality. James 1:22-25 warns, "But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does."

Being a doer means acting on what God's Word says, regardless of what is happening around you. When God's Word says to forgive, forgive. When it says to give, give. When it says to love your enemies, love them as Jesus loved.

This obedience releases the Holy Spirit's power to accomplish what you cannot do with your own strength. John 14:15-16 connects obedience with the Spirit's presence: "If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper."

Joshua didn't just think about taking the Promised Land; he led the people across the Jordan to possess it. He didn't just meditate on God's battle plans; he marched around Jericho. His action completed the cycle, and the walls fell.

When is the best time to be a doer? Several years ago, my young son gave this advice to his nephew. He said the best time to tackle any task is NOW. Don't put it off, do it now. This is good advice for every Christian.

In daily life, this means when you've studied, spoken, and meditated on God's Word, it is time to begin doing. And we do not have to act on our own. God sent us a Helper, which means we receive help as we do our part. So, when you combine faith with action and add in the help of the Holy Spirit, supernatural results begin to happen and will transform your life.

Reader,

Hosea said his people were destroyed for lack of knowledge. Knowledge give believers and non-believers a choice. When a person does not know, they cannot choose.
