Ask God: It is important to know how God set up His Spiritual Laws as well as the Natural Laws. As we begin to understand the Spiritual Laws, we can begin to incorporate them into our daily lives and see God work in our lives. Good Evening Reader, Long ago, Hosea defined a problem with believers. Hosea said, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge."God wants us to know His work and to utilize them to live life abundantly. When we do not know, there is no opportunity to use God's laws. Knowing how God operates is crucial to receiving benefits from the Word of God. We utilize faith to activate God's laws. May God Bless you this day. Elvin Spiritual Laws, Part 2 Last week, we met some good Christians who love God, go to church, and work hard. They watch every dollar and do all the right things. Yet at the end of the month, they feel like they are running on a treadmill. Lots of effort, but they never get ahead. The problem is not a lack of effort. It is a lack of knowledge. "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge" (Hosea 4:6). Here is what we learned. Every part of life is governed by law. Natural laws, like gravity, govern the physical world. Spiritual laws govern the unseen world, and they came first. God framed the worlds by His Word (Hebrews 11:3). The force behind His spiritual laws is faith, and His Word never changes or wears out. We also learned that a higher law overrides a lower law. A huge jet does not do away with gravity. It rises above gravity by putting the law of lift to work. In the same way, "the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death" (Romans 8:2). Adam set the law of sin and death in motion. Jesus set the law of life in motion at His resurrection, and it is the master law for God's children. But a law only works when it is put to work. A jet in the hangar never flies. A farmer who never plants a seed never sees a harvest. God's laws must be put into action by faith: believing His Word in our hearts and speaking it with our mouths (Mark 11:23). Now comes the next question. If God's spiritual laws really work, why should we choose His system over the one the world has trained us to trust? What difference will it make in our everyday lives and in our finances? That is where we turn this week. Living by God's System Has Real Advantages The world has its own system for meeting needs. It runs on human effort, human wisdom, and what can be seen and counted. God has a system too, and it works very differently. Here are some of the advantages of living by God's system. 1. God's system is complete. The world's system is limited at best. It can only offer what people can produce. God's system is backed by His unlimited riches. Remember Philippians 4:19. God supplies our need "according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus," not according to the economy, our job, or our bank balance. That is why we must not let the world set the limits on what we expect from God. Paul wrote, "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God" (Romans 12:2). The world won't understand this way of living. The Bible says the things of God seem like foolishness to the natural man (1 Corinthians 2:14). That's all right. You aren't living by the world's rules anymore. 2. God's system is about more than money. When some people hear the word prosperity, all they think about is money. But money is only a small part of true prosperity. True prosperity is God making Himself known to us through His Word. When you have His Word, you have Him close at hand every day. Peace, wisdom, health, strong relationships, and provision all flow from walking with Him. So don't judge your life by your feelings or emotions. Judge it by what God has said. 3. God's system keeps Him as your Source. The world's system often trains us to look to people and institutions as our source. The Bible gives us a warning: "The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender" (Proverbs 22:7). When we depend on borrowing, we put ourselves under someone else's control. God wants us to look to Him first. He is not just willing to help us get by. He is willing to give. As you grow in faith, make it your goal to depend less and less on the world's system and more and more on God's. 4. God's laws never expire. "The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law" (Deuteronomy 29:29). Any law God has revealed in His Word will never pass away. What He taught Abraham about giving, receiving, and trusting Him works just as well today as it did thousands of years ago. Think about it this way. Ford Motor Company builds cars. If a part wears out, Ford can make a replacement, because they built the whole car. God made you. He made your body, your gifts, and your life. Surely the One who made you can supply everything you need. 5. God's laws work for anyone who believes. You don't need to be a pastor or a Bible scholar for God's laws to work. One minister tells about his young daughter. The ministry needed a van to carry equipment, and she said, "Daddy, I want to be the first to give for this van." She gave the couple of dollars she had. Then she began thanking God for a return, saying, "In the name of Jesus, it's mine!" Before long, she received it. Later, his six-year-old son gave his money too, without anyone asking him. A few days later, he also saw God's return. How could children see these results? It's for the same reason gravity works for a child as well as an adult. The law works because the force behind it is real. Faith is a real force, and God's children have every right to use His laws. 6. God's system defeats the enemy. Satan does not want you to learn these laws. Jesus said, "The sower sows the word. And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts" (Mark 4:14–15). Why does Satan work so hard to steal the Word? There are three reasons:
When you put God's laws to work by faith, Satan loses his hold. Each time one of God's laws works in your life, it brings glory to God and hands the enemy another defeat. Summary Remember those hardworking Christians from the beginning? They love God, do all the right things, and still never seem to get ahead. The problem was never their effort. The problem was that they were living only by natural laws, when God had given them higher ones. Here is what we've learned:
So how do you put God's laws to work? Here is a simple plan:
"But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him" (Hebrews 11:6). You can keep running on the treadmill, working harder and harder under the lower law, or you can step into God's higher law and let it lift you. The choice is yours. God's laws are waiting. They will work every time they are put to work. It's time to stop trying to fly on effort alone and start rising on God's higher law.
