Ask God: Jesus came with His Light shining brightly. He desires that all see Him and accept Him for eternal life. The words in John, chapter 8 are the central message brought by Jesus. "I am" are two powerful words. Good Evening Reader, Some weeks are more of a challenge than others. This week was a challenge but our heavenly Father has been there each step of the way. We praise God for His every present presence. He is faithful, our challenge fades, and leaves our faith stronger. May we always Praise God in the challenging times as well as the good times. Our God blesses us abundantly every day. All Glory to God. Elvin "Jesus, the Light of the World" John 8:12-20 When Light Walks In, Spiritual Darkness Exits The Light—Jesus—Conquers Darkness We are the people of this story with so much to gain. As travelers lost in the dark, we stumble, guess, and often walk into trouble. The Bible says darkness is not just around us, but in us. John captures the words of Jesus, which nourish our souls. Jesus—the Light—came and darkness exited for all believers. He does not point to the light—He claims to be the Light. In John 8:12–20 and John 9:5, Jesus speaks with authority and compassion, offering a clear promise: those who follow Him will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life. This is not just information; it is an invitation to trust Him and obey. The Problem — Humanity Walks in Darkness (John 8:12) Jesus begins with a bold statement: “I am the light of the world.” Darkness represents sin and separation from God. The Pharisees believed they could see clearly through the law, yet they rejected Jesus. Like them, people often trust their own understanding instead of God’s truth. Without Jesus, even religious people can remain in the dark. The problem is not a lack of rules—it is a lack of Light. Jesus Spoke with Divine Authority (John 8:13–20) The Pharisees challenge Jesus, questioning His authority. Jesus responds by explaining that His testimony is true because the Father sent Him. He knows where He came from and where He is going. Jesus is not guessing—He is sent. Jesus came to bring light into the world. He is the truth and the light we can cling to. When an individual clings to their own understanding, they are misguided by personal desires rather than the desires of the heavenly Father. Jesus reveals the Father and exposes false confidence. Knowing God begins with understanding the Son. Follow God’s Plan and Receive Life (John 9:5) Jesus repeats His claim: “While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” Light is meant to be followed. Jesus does not promise an easy path, but a clear one. Those who follow Him receive “the light of life”—truth and direction. The plan is simple: follow Jesus daily, trust His words, and walk where He leads. Imagine walking along a narrow road just before sunrise. The ground is uneven, the shadows are long, and every step feels uncertain. You move slowly, afraid of stumbling. Then, without warning, a light appears ahead—not flickering, not fading, but steady and strong. With each step toward it, the path becomes clearer. Rocks that once threatened your footing are revealed, and the fear in your chest begins to loosen its grip. This is what Jesus means when He says He is the Light of the world. Jesus does not remove the road; He reveals it. Following Him does not erase hardship, but it clears confusion. His light reveals the truth, even when it is uncomfortable, because only what is seen can be healed. Like a shepherd walking ahead of his sheep with a lamp, Jesus leads, not drives. Every day, His light calls us forward—one faithful step at a time—out of fear and sin into life. The life of light which Jesus offers is everlasting. Hear the Call of the Light Jesus does not whisper His invitation—He shines it. In John 8 and John 9, He stands in a world filled with religious noise, fear, and confusion and declares, “I am the light of the world.” That means darkness is not the end of your story. Darkness may explain your past, but it does not have to define your future. Light changes everything. It reveals what is true, shows the way, and gives life where death once ruled. Light dispels darkness, but darkness does not dispel the light. There is no switch for darkness except disobedience. For the believer, this is a reminder to keep following. Light is not something we admire from a distance; it is something we walk in daily. When we drift, confusion grows. When we follow closely, peace and clarity return. The closer we stay to Jesus, the brighter our path becomes. For the unbeliever, this is an open door. Jesus is not asking you to fix yourself first. He is asking you to come out of the dark. He knows where you have been, and He knows where He is leading you. Those who follow Him “will have the light of life” (John 8:12). The question is personal and straightforward: Will you step into the Light? Elvin Jesus, Light of the World
