Ask God: Don’t take a trip through life without God’s roadmap, the Bible. Adhering to the Word will prevent you from getting lost and wandering through life. We all need direction for our lives and the Word of God provides that direction. Good Evening Reader, We have so much to be thankful for. God is with us wherever we go or whatever we do. May we strive to please Him in all we do. God Bless. Elvin Understanding the Three Judgment Seats Understanding the three judgment seats is important for all people, especially believers. If you were to get in your vehicle for a trip without knowing where you were going or why, the results probably would not be to your liking. The Word of God is your road map and your guide. It enlightens believers about what is needed for the trip and what to expect upon arrival. If you know that judgments are coming based on the demonstration of your faith, you may want to adjust your attitude and come into alignment with God’s Word. The Bible tells us what we need to do to be saved and what our rewards are based on. The three judgment seats are: 1) The Judgment Seat of Christ, 2) The Judgment of the Nations, and 3) The Great White Throne Judgment. We will discuss what they are, when they will occur, and who is judged. Judgment Seat of Christ First, the Judgment Seat of Christ is a future event in which believers in Jesus Christ will stand before Him to have their lives evaluated. This is not a judgment to determine salvation. That issue was settled the moment a person placed their faith in Christ. Instead, this judgment concerns rewards, responsibility, and faithfulness in a believer’s life. The key passage is 2 Corinthians 5:10, which says, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” The word “bad” here carries the idea of what is worthless, not sinful condemnation. Another important reference is 1 Corinthians 3:12–15: “Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials—gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw. But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value. If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward. But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss. The builder will be saved, but like someone barely escaping through a wall of flames.” Paul explains that a believer’s works will be tested by fire. Works done for Christ with the right motives will remain and be rewarded. Works done for self or without eternal value will be burned up, though the person is still saved. This judgment will take place after the rapture of the church. It is a time of accountability, not punishment. It is important to remember that God desires believers to live with purpose. Every act of obedience, every sacrifice, and every faithful decision matters. This judgment motivates believers to live intentionally, knowing their lives have eternal significance. Another way to say this: Salvation is a gift, but rewards are earned through faithfulness. Judgment of the Nations aka The Sheep and Goats Judgment Second, the Judgment of the Nations is described by Jesus in Matthew 25:31–46. It takes place when Christ returns to earth in His glory and sits on His throne to judge the nations. This judgment occurs after the second coming of Christ and during the Millennium. This judgment is different from the Judgment Seat of Christ. Here, Jesus judges living people who have survived the Tribulation. He separates them as a shepherd separates sheep from goats. The sheep represent those who demonstrated genuine faith by how they treated “the least of these,” often understood as Christ’s brethren, likely referring to Israel or believers during that time. The goats represent those who showed no such evidence of faith. The basis of this judgment is not merely acts of kindness, but what those acts reveal. Their actions are evidence of their heart condition. True faith expresses itself through compassion and obedience and is the manifestation of a person’s faith. Verse 34 says the sheep inherit the kingdom prepared for them. It says, “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world.” Verse 46 says the goats go away into everlasting punishment. It says, “And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.” Understanding the “why” is critical to understand this judgment. This judgment shows that faith is not just words. It is revealed through actions. It also demonstrates that Jesus is King over all nations and holds all people accountable. In essence, this judgment reveals who truly belongs to Christ based on the evidence of their lives. Great White Throne Judgment—The Final Judgment of the Unbelievers And finally, the Great White Throne Judgment is the final and most solemn judgment described in Scripture. It is found in Revelation 20:11–15. This event takes place after the Millennium, when heaven and earth as we know them have passed away. Revelation 20:11-15 says, “And I saw a great white throne and the one sitting on it. The earth and sky fled from his presence, but they found no place to hide. I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God’s throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books. The sea gave up its dead, and death and the gravegave up their dead. And all were judged according to their deeds. Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death. And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.” John describes a great white throne and Him who sits on it, from whose face the earth and heaven fled away. This emphasizes the absolute holiness and authority of God. At this judgment, all the dead who are not in Christ are raised and stand before God. The books are opened, including the Book of Life. The dead are judged according to their works. This is not a judgment on whether they can be saved. Their rejection of Christ has already settled that. Their works are examined to demonstrate the justice of God’s judgment. Verse 15 is clear. “And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.” This is the second death, eternal separation from God. The “why” behind this judgment is to display God’s perfect justice. No one will be judged unfairly. Every person will see that God’s judgment is right and true. Another way to say this: This is the final court where those who rejected Christ face the consequences of that decision. It is the sentencing phase of the trial. Summary of the Judgments Understanding the three judgments gives believers clarity about their spiritual journey and eternal purpose. It shows where they are going, why it matters, and how God evaluates their lives. Knowing that salvation is secure, yet rewards are based on faithfulness, motivates believers to live intentionally and serve Christ with the right heart. The Judgment of the Nations reveals that true faith is demonstrated through action, not just words. The Great White Throne reminds believers of the reality of eternal consequences and God’s perfect justice. Together, these truths will guide our Christian journey, aligning our lives with God’s Word, walking in obedience, and valuing every opportunity to serve. In doing so, we will glorify God, knowing that every act of faith carries eternal significance. Elvin PS. Share your newfound knowledge with you friends. Reader, Hosea said his people were destroyed for lack of knowledge. Knowledge give believers and non-believers a choice. When a person does not know, they cannot choose.
