Receive Boldness to Witness for God Through the Holy Spirit

Ask God: In Acts, Chapter 4, we see Peter and John standing and speaking boldly for God. This boldness was the result of being filled with the Holy Spirit. We too, can have boldness for Christ by following the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Good Evening Reader,

Adversity can make you stronger or cause you to fall by the wayside. Let the power of the Holy Spirit make you strong and bold. Fix your eyes on Him. May God bless you this day.

God Bless.

The Holy Spirit Releases Boldness in Christians

Acts 4:1-22

Have you ever found yourself in a position to witness to a troubled individual, but did not have the courage to do so? Later, you think back on your interaction and feel guilty for not standing up boldly for God. All of us have had this experience. What do you do about it?

The answer is to learn about the Holy Spirit and how to receive His power.

Christians who desire spiritual boldness in their lives are often hindered by not fully understanding how the Holy Spirit works and how to utilize the guidance and strength available through the Holy Spirit.

A number of reasons prevent us from walking in the boldness of the Holy Spirit. It is often our lack of knowledge of the Holy Spirit that prevents us from receiving the help and guidance of Him. The Holy Spirit is the source of boldness and power for Christians. Walking in God's Spirit also brings peace and joy, knowing we are doing God's will.

Proverbs 3:5-6 instructs us to, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Trade in your inclination to do it your way and seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

The starting point for solving this problem is to understand who the Holy Spirit is and how He works in our lives.

Boldness Begins When Believers Choose the Voice of the Holy Spirit Over the Voice of Self

One of the greatest struggles believers face is knowing what God wants them to do. We tend to rely on our own thoughts and feelings instead of seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Many Christians sincerely desire to please God, but they often approach life's decisions from a natural perspective. Our natural approach is to do and say what seems right and will be acceptable to us and others. This results in fear and uncertainty, causing hesitation. Therefore, we miss opportunities to speak up for God.

This uncertainty is the difference between a carnal believer and a spiritually minded believer. The carnal believer may be saved and possess the Holy Spirit; yet he continues to be guided primarily by his own understanding.

Our pride and self-reliance can quietly hinder the work of the Holy Spirit. We may know what the Word of God says, but we do not consistently allow the Spirit to direct our thoughts, words, and actions.

God's solution is for believers to become spiritually minded. Romans 8:14 says, "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God." Being spiritually minded and seeking God's direction through prayer puts us on the path with God's will. It is then that the wisdom of God directs our paths.

As we choose to listen to the Holy Spirit and act upon His guidance, boldness begins to grow within us. Fear loses its grip because confidence is no longer rooted in human ability but in God's presence and power. The Holy Spirit leads believers into truth and strengthens our faith. Then, our faith empowers us to live courageously for Christ.

The Holy Spirit Releases God's Power to Overcome Fear and Opposition

Fear is one of the greatest obstacles to bold Christian living. Many believers know what God has called them to do, yet fear of rejection and criticism prevents them from stepping forward in faith. What happens? We remain silent when we should speak and we hesitate when we should act. Fear causes us to focus on our own weaknesses rather than God's strength.

The solution to fear is found in the power of the Holy Spirit. Paul reminded Timothy, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7).

The power Paul described was not human courage. It was the power of the Holy Spirit working within the believer. When Christians depend upon the Holy Spirit, they discover that God's strength is greater than any opposition they face.

Peter and John provide a powerful example of this truth in Acts 4:1-22. After healing a lame man in the name of Jesus, they were arrested and brought before the Sanhedrin. These religious leaders demanded to know by what power they had performed the miracle.

Filled with the Holy Spirit, Peter boldly proclaimed that the man had been healed through Jesus Christ. Rather than yielding to intimidation, they spoke the truth with confidence and conviction.

The same Holy Spirit who empowered Peter and John lives in believers today. When Christians trust His guidance and depend on His power, fear loses its influence. The Holy Spirit gives us the courage to stand firm and speak God's truth.

Following the Holy Spirit Daily Develops a Life of Increasing Boldness

Many believers desire boldness, yet they become frustrated because they do not see consistent spiritual growth in their lives. They attend church, read the Bible occasionally, and pray when problems arise, but they often remain spiritually stagnant.

Instead of moving forward in God's purpose, they maintain the status quo. Fear and uncertainty continue to limit their effectiveness because they have not developed the habit of yielding to the Holy Spirit.

How do we as Christians overcome timidity and fear?

Scripture reveals that spiritual boldness is not an event but a process. As believers consistently spend time in God's Word, pray, and meditate on His promises, the Holy Spirit transforms their thinking and strengthens their faith.

Joshua 1:8 teaches that meditation on God's Word leads to success and spiritual growth. Likewise, Romans 12:2 instructs believers to be transformed by the renewing of their minds. The more believers align their thoughts with God's truth, the more confidently they can follow His leading.

Believers can either hinder or cooperate with the Holy Spirit's work. We hinder Him when we ignore His promptings or choose our own plans over God's direction.

We cooperate with Him when we listen and obey the Spirit of God. Even small acts of obedience strengthen our faith and prepare us for greater opportunities to serve God.

It is a work in progress that results in a believer whose life reflects increasing boldness and spiritual maturity. As obedience becomes a lifestyle, confidence in God's faithfulness grows.

The Holy Spirit empowers us to speak God's Word and serve others without being controlled by fear. Daily surrender to the Holy Spirit produces a life that advances God's kingdom and brings glory to Christ.

Summary

Boldness is not reserved for a few courageous believers. It is available to every Christian who chooses to follow the Holy Spirit. Many believers struggle with fear and uncertainty because they depend upon their own understanding rather than God's guidance.

The good news is that the Holy Spirit was given to help and empower believers to fulfill God's purpose.

As Christians study God's Word, pray, and meditate on His promises, we become more sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit. Fear begins to lose its influence, and confidence in God's faithfulness grows. It is a process that occurs over time.

Just as Peter and John stood boldly before opposition through the power of the Holy Spirit, believers today can face challenges with courage and conviction.

God has not called His people to live timid, defeated lives; He has given them His Spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. As we yield daily to the Holy Spirit, we can confidently serve Christ and become powerful witnesses of God's grace and truth.

Reader,

Hosea said his people were destroyed for lack of knowledge. Knowledge give believers and non-believers a choice. When a person does not know, they cannot choose.
