Standing Boldly for God

Ask God: In Acts, Chapter 4, we see Peter and being jailed because they healed the crippled man. What did they do. They testified boldly to the Sanhedrin. Let us learn to do the same in our daily lives.

Good Evening Reader,

Standing boldly for God is not an option, it is our calling. God is the power within you who helps you stand. Fix your eyes on Christ. May God bless you this day.

God Bless.

Standing Boldly for God

Acts 4:23-37

"And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness" (Acts 4:31).

Boldness Comes from God, Not Ourselves

While believers want to stand boldly for God, we often find ourselves in situations where we have the opportunity to witness for God but shy away from speaking out. It may be fear of rejection, or it may be that we do not feel we know enough. Let us look at how Peter and John handled their situation when they were called before the Sanhedrin court.

After Peter and John were threatened by the religious leaders for healing a man and preaching about Jesus, they returned to the other believers and shared what had happened. Instead of responding with fear, the believers turned to God in prayer.

Their example teaches us that boldness is not something we produce on our own. It comes from a close relationship with God through prayer and the power of the Holy Spirit. Every believer is called to stand boldly for Christ, regardless of the circumstances.

Prayer Gives Believers the Courage to Stand Firm

When Peter and John faced opposition for preaching about Jesus and healing a man, their first response was not fear, anger, or discouragement. They immediately returned to the community of believers and joined them in prayer.

The religious leaders had warned them not to speak in the name of Jesus, yet they did not ask God to remove the threat or punish their enemies. Instead, they asked God for boldness to continue doing what He had called them to do.

This teaches an important lesson for Christians today. We live in a world where standing for biblical truth is not always popular. Believers may face criticism or rejection for speaking out about their faith. In those moments, it is tempting to become discouraged. However, prayer helps us keep our focus on God rather than on our circumstances.

When we spend time in prayer, we align our hearts with God's will. Prayer reminds us that God is still in control, even when challenges arise. It strengthens our faith and gives us the courage to obey God rather than follow the opinions of others.

Jesus Himself regularly withdrew to spend time alone with the Father. Through prayer, He received strength and guidance to carry out the Father's will.

The same is true for believers today. Prayer gives us wisdom when we face difficult decisions, peace when we encounter opposition, and confidence when we are called to share our faith. It helps us remember that we are not standing alone. God is with us, and His Spirit empowers us to remain faithful.

When Christians pray consistently, we develop the courage to stand firm in our faith and continue serving God regardless of the challenges we face.

The Holy Spirit Empowers Believers to Live and Speak Boldly

The early disciples understood that they could not accomplish the mission Jesus had given them through their own abilities. They had witnessed opposition from religious leaders, and experienced persecution that could have caused them to remain silent. Yet they knew that God's work required God's power.

After gathering together in prayer, they were filled with the Holy Spirit, and Acts 4:31 tells us that they "preached the word of God with boldness."

The same Holy Spirit who empowered the first believers lives within Christians today. God never intended for us to rely solely on our own strength or wisdom.

Human courage often fades in the face of difficulties, but the power of the Holy Spirit enables believers to remain faithful even when facing challenges. He gives us the confidence to stand for biblical truth, share our faith, and serve God regardless of the opinions of others.

One obstacle many Christians face is comparing themselves to other believers. We may admire the courage, knowledge, or leadership abilities of someone else and feel inadequate by comparison.

However, God has uniquely gifted every believer for a specific purpose. Paul reminds us in Galatians 6:4-5 that each person should focus on the work God has given them to do rather than measuring themselves against others.

The Holy Spirit equips each believer differently. Some are gifted to teach, others to encourage, serve, lead, give, or show compassion. When we depend upon the Spirit, we can confidently use the gifts God has entrusted to us for His glory.

Boldness is not about having a strong personality or drawing attention to ourselves. It is the confidence that comes from knowing God is with us. As we yield to the Holy Spirit each day, He empowers us to live faithfully, speak courageously, and accomplish the work Christ has called us to do.

God Uses Ordinary Believers Who Step Out in Faith

Many Christians hesitate to share their faith because they fear saying the wrong thing or being rejected. Consider the story of Sarah, a faithful believer who worked in a busy office. She loved the Lord and attended church regularly, but she rarely talked about her faith with her coworkers. She worried that people might think she was judgmental or overly religious. As a result, she remained silent even when opportunities arose.

One day, a coworker named Lisa shared that her husband had lost his job and that their family was struggling. Sarah felt a strong impression to offer encouragement and pray for her, but fear held her back. She wondered what Lisa might think and whether she would be offended.

That evening, Sarah prayed and asked God for courage. She remembered how Peter and John prayed for boldness when they faced opposition. The next day, Sarah approached Lisa and simply said, "I have been thinking about your situation. Would it be okay if I prayed for you?" To her surprise, Lisa gratefully accepted.

That brief conversation opened the door to many others. Over the following months, Lisa asked questions about faith, attended church, and began reading the Bible. Sarah later realized that God had not asked her to have all the answers. He had simply asked her to take one step of faith.

Many believers are like Sarah. We often imagine that sharing our faith requires special knowledge, extraordinary confidence, or the perfect words. Yet God frequently works through ordinary Christians who are willing to trust Him. When we step out in faith and depend on the Holy Spirit, God can use even the simplest act of obedience to touch someone's life and point them toward Christ.

Summary: Stand Boldly for God

The story of Peter and John in Acts 4 reminds us that God calls every believer to stand boldly for Him. These men were not fearless because of their own abilities. They were ordinary people who had been transformed by their relationship with Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Even when threatened by powerful leaders, they refused to remain silent because they knew that obeying God was more important than pleasing people.

Their example teaches us that boldness begins with prayer. When challenges or uncertainty arise, we can turn to God and seek His wisdom, strength, and direction. Prayer aligns our hearts with His will and reminds us that we are never facing life's battles alone. As we spend time with God, our faith grows stronger, and our confidence in Him increases.

The disciples also understood that God's work must be accomplished through God's power. The Holy Spirit filled them and enabled them to speak and live with courage.

That same Spirit lives within every believer today. God has uniquely gifted each of us with talents and abilities to serve Him. We do not need to compare ourselves with others or wish we had someone else's gifts. God has equipped us for the work He has called us to do.

Perhaps God is calling you to encourage a friend, share your testimony, teach a Bible study, pray with someone in need, or simply live faithfully before others. Whatever your assignment may be, do not allow fear to hold you back.

The world needs believers who will stand firm in their faith, speak the truth in love, and point others to Jesus Christ. As you seek God in prayer and rely on the Holy Spirit, you can move forward with confidence, knowing that God will strengthen you, guide you, and use your life for His glory.

Reader,

Hosea said his people were destroyed for lack of knowledge. Knowledge give believers and non-believers a choice. When a person does not know, they cannot choose.
