Grow in the Knowledge of God's Word

When Will We See God?

Ask God: When will we see God? A very good question. Certainly in eternity. Jesus said, "Blessed are the pure in heart, for the shall see God." Forgiveness removes the barrier between believers and God and allows us to come into the presence of God.

Good Evening Reader,

May God bless you as your read and study His Word. Come into God's presence and enjoy fellowship with God.

Today is the day the Lord has made. Pause and enjoy.

All Glory to God.

When Will We See God?

That's a great question—and it gets to the heart of what Jesus taught in the Sermon on the Mount. Matthew 5:8 says: "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God."

What the Bible Says about When We Will See God?

The most direct answer is in the eternal Kingdom of God. When Jesus says the pure in heart "will see God," He's ultimately pointing toward our future in heaven. This is a promise of unfiltered, face-to-face fellowship with God, something that even Moses didn't fully experience on earth (Exodus 33:20: "But He said, "You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live").

Revelation 22:1-4 says we will see His face and much more. Let’s read these words.

" 1 And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. 2 In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. 3 And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him. 4 They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. 5 There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever" (Revelation 22:1-4).

The angel gave John a glimpse of heaven and what we can expect. In these verses, John talks about the pure river of water of life, the throne of God, and the tree of life (remember the Garden of Eden). We will see the face of God, and there will be no need for lamps or even the sun.

I look forward to seeing heaven, not for a weekend or a brief vacation, but for eternity. Amazing!

So yes—we will literally see God in eternity. That's the ultimate fulfillment.

But What About In This Life – Through Spiritual Eyes?

But there's also a present reality. The more our hearts are purified by faith, repentance, and obedience, the more clearly, we can see God at work in our daily lives—in His Word, in answered prayer, in creation, in others, and even in our daily struggles.

As we grow closer to God by removing the barriers of sin that separate us from God, we grow in intimacy with God and fellowship with Him. Removal of the barrier allows us to enjoy God's presence every day. This presence happens as Jesus taught in the Lord's Prayer: "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." As we strive to live a purified life, we grow closer and closer to God, where we commune with God and see our prayers answered.

Hebrews 12:14 says: "Without holiness, no one will see the Lord."

It's not just about the afterlife—it's about the clarity we gain now when sin isn't clouding our spiritual vision.

See God In Jesus Christ

Jesus Himself is the visible image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15). When our hearts are made pure, we're able to truly recognize and respond to Christ for who He is. That's why in John 14:9, Jesus says: "Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father."

The more your heart is purified by surrendering to Christ, the more clearly you see God in Jesus—His character, His love, His truth. A surrendered heart clears our spiritual vision like the fog removed over the horizon on a spring day.

Purity Brings Clarity

A "pure heart" doesn't mean perfection but undivided loyalty to God. Not a heart that's half in the world and half with God, but one that's entirely His. The more undivided and surrendered your heart is, the more you'll see God's hand, hear His voice, and recognize His presence—both now and in the life to come.

What Does It Mean to Have a Pure Heart?

First and foremost, it is undivided loyalty to God. It is loving God with all your heart, not a portion of your heart, but all your heart. It is putting God first in all you do.

The Greek word for "pure" in Matthew 5:8 is katharos, which means clean, clear, or unmixed. Think of pure gold—refined with no impurities. Or pure water—free from contaminants.

A pure heart is a heart that is not split—not half for God and half for sin. James told us in the fourth chapter and the eighth verse to "purify your hearts." God wants single-minded devotion. A pure heart says: "God, You're not just first in my life—you're everything."

How Can We Create a Pure Heart

Purifying our hearts starts when we recognize we need to purify our hearts and go to God, asking Him to help us cleanse our hearts.

King David understood this deeply. After his sin with Bathsheba, he cried out: "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me" (Psalm 51:10). David took ownership of his sins and asked God to help him. David acknowledged his sin, repented, and turned to the Father.

It is no wonder God said David was a man after His heart. Yes, David fell, he sinned. But David recognized what he had done and turned to God. Yes, we sin, but like David, we need to turn to God, repent, and rejoin in fellowship with God.

Free from the Slavery of Sin

This doesn't mean we're sinless, but it means we're not living in unrepentant sin. A pure heart constantly allows God to do spiritual heart surgery—cleansing thoughts, motives, and desires.

"All who have this hope in Him purify themselves, just as He is pure" (1 John 3:3). If you're pursuing Jesus, you'll want a clean heart, even when you fall short. That desire is a sign of purity.

How Do We Pursue a Pure Heart?

Here are five practical ways to pursue purity of the heart:

· Ask God for It: Start where David started. Don't try to fix your own heart—ask God to cleanse it. "Create in me a clean heart, O God…" (Psalm 51:10). Make that your daily prayer.

· Saturate Yourself in God's Word: God's Word washes our minds and purifies our hearts. When we read, meditate, and apply the Word, God will work from the inside out. "How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to Your word" (Psalm 119:9).

· Guard What You Let In: You can't have a pure heart if you're filling it with impurities. What you watch, listen to, and joke about shapes your heart. "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it" (Proverbs 4:23).

· Live a Repentant Life: Purity isn't about never falling—it's about running back to God when you sin. Keep short accounts with Him. Confess quickly. Repent deeply.

The Promise: "They Shall See God"

Seeing God is the ultimate reward. That means seeing Him now in daily life—His presence, His power, His fingerprints everywhere. Seeing Him in eternity—face to face, fully known, no more sin, no more evil.

If your heart is divided today, God's not done with you. He's calling you to go all in. Not to fake it or play games. But to lay it all out before God and ask Him to cleanse you, fill you, and use you.

Scriptures for a Pure Heart

Reader,

Hosea said his people were destroyed for lack of knowledge. Knowledge give believers and non-believers a choice. When a person does not know, they cannot choose.
